THE
BLEASDALE
STORY

FRANK POTTS WAS A
MAN OF MANY TALENTS.

At various points throughout his lifetime he was a sailor, a carpenter, a farmer, a boat builder, a vigneron - and a winemaker.

Bleasdale Wines, with its rich and colourful history, stands as one of the oldest wineries in Australia with 175 years of continuous winemaking by the direct descendants of the founding Potts family. Bleasdale rates as one of the leading producers in Australia having been named Halliday Winery of the Year in 2024, Winemaker of the Year in 2018 and Best Value Winery of the Year. Bleasdale also won the coveted Jimmy Watson Trophy in 2019.

OUR HISTORY

Bleasdale was founded in 1850 by the extraordinary Frank Potts. Already with an amazing life story, Frank arrived in Adelaide on the HMS Buffalo in 1836. His journeys brought him through a place then called Langhorne’s Crossing. The rest is history…

OUR WINES

Bleasdale wines captures the very essence of what make Langhorne Creek wines so attractive – vibrancy, harmony, elegance and texture.

OUR VINEYARDS

The Bleasdale estate consists of 38 vineyards totalling 47 hectares in size. Our vineyards are managed with an agile viticultural strategy to thrive in drought or flood.

SUSTAINABILITY

Under the stewardship of Sarah Keough, we are continually
adopting vineyard management and winemaking practices that move towards minimal intervention.

OUR REGION

Bleasdale was the founding winery and vineyard in the Langhorne Creek wine region. Thanks to the natural fertility of the floodplain, Langhorne Creek is ideal for grape growing.
